Casa San Miguel

We are glad to say that the Casa San Miguel program in spite of rumors to the contrary continued with county services from Drug and Alcohol Services, AA, NA, WIC and Public Health Programs when we had to close our soup kitchen.

And, with the blessings of God, we  are soon to be supported by new friends of San Miguel who are working with us to partner a new hospitality center with community building programs including food once more

Watch this column for more news about these exciting developments and how you can help this growing community..

John and Melissa Cooper have been elected to our Board of Directors and bring with them a wonderful outreach to adults living with disabilities.  Their program, Balboa Independent Living Home for Adults with Disabilities.  Balboa House, offers affordable housing for up to six adults with mental or physical disabilities.  The tenants are taught cooperative living skills, and social interaction skills while escaping the common isolation and prejudice often encountered by this population.

Balboa House brings with them many assets as we expand to reach out to even more of our community.

Tucson, Arizona

moving day

As many of you know, with the help of my trusty friend, Diane, I moved with my two cats and Raggs to Tucson, Arizona.  Here I have found work and friends with the Franciscans reaching out to homeless adults, and soon hope to begin working with children in the reservation school!  I miss my San Miguel babies and kids!

Jim has joined me here in Tucson, and he has developed a new skill in painting spiritual garden statues!  As well as continuing with his songwriting and recording.  You can find his work for sale in our Arts and Crafts store as well as some of Susie's hand crafts and art.

Shake, aka Jim, with his old Gibson.  Also listen to excerpts from his CDs in our store.
